Are you looking for affordable beach condo rental accommodations in the Saint Petersburg Florida area?  Well I stumbled onto a GEM of a find, booking our last trip this past May!!

It’s centrally located in the beautiful Clearwater/Saint Pete’s area, and checks off many “must -have” boxes when searching for the ideal, convenient and economical accommodations stay.

The secret treasure I speak of is the Madeira Bay Resort!!

The last few visits to St. Pete, my husband and I would stay at the Dolphin Beach resort in Saint Petersburg when we were traveling by ourselves.

This trip my daughter had just gotten home from her first year of university, and though she does like the beach, she just isn’t the 6-8 hour a day beach lover my husband and I are.

We thought we’d try something close to John’s Pass in Madeira Beach, simply because it is the central area in St. Pete’s for shopping and dining.

This gave my daughter options during the day if she choose to leave the beach before us.

As we approached the resort, we were pleasantly surprised how easy it was to see from a distance. We loved the Mediterranean feel of the architecture and that Johns Pass, which sits adjacent to the resort, was in eye view.

Johns Pass

If you’ve never heard of the incredible shopping and dining experience at Johns Pass, you can check that out at Johns Pass.com

Pulling into the garage parking area sits a beautiful marina just behind the building that comes from the Intracoastal water-way. Here you see gorgeous privately owned boats and yachts.

The resort does allow guest docking, however the marina must be called in advance for storage and dockage. You can find more info on that by visiting http://www.madeirabaydocksinc.com/

Just to the right of the marina sits Mad Beach Fish House, a quaint outdoor bar/restaurant that sits just above the marina.

We didn’t get a chance to try out the place, but I will say it was hopping every night of the week, which usually indicates good food and service.

The parking garage was a good size, incredibly convenient, and quite spacious, making it very easy to park, and get our beach chairs and accessories everyday.

The front desk is located on the 2nd floor, and having the first room on the right turned out to be great!! We were very happy to have the elevator and front desk just a few steps away.

Our condo apartment was a two bedroom, two bath, with a full size kitchen, living room, laundry room, dishwasher, central air conditioning, two large tv’s, wifi, and a private balcony just off the main bedroom.

Probably the only negative I had at all was that our view was large palm trees with the busy Gulf Blvd in front of us.

However, with that being said, we spent very little time on the balcony, and did not request or were particular about our view because we                                              did not plan to spend much time there anyhow.

The apartment was clean, comfortable and met all our needs for our week stay.

I am that girl!! You know, the girl that has the gift of gab and makes friends wherever I go, and this trip was no different!!

Julie Lauritsen, the evening desk manager became my fast friend!! She’s a Colorado native, but like myself, loved Florida and the Gulf coast and took the leap, moving to the Saint Pete’s area a few years back. I was able to sit down with her and get a few details about the resort.

I think it completely enhances any traveling experience when you stay where the staff is friendly, kind and eager to accommodate you during any vacation stay.
We were fortunate enough to stay right off the 2nd floor elevator and adjacent to the front desk lobby.
Every morning Sarah, who is the day manager greeted us with a smile and started our day off nice by answering any questions about the area, and wishing us a great day!!
We would return most late afternoons from the beach, where Julie was sitting with a smile, and even made it a point to wave and acknowledge you on a phone call.
This truly turns a “nice place to call home a week” into a GREAT place you enjoy coming back to everyday!!

Midweek, we had one day where there was a gentleman that tended to the front desk. I didn’t get to catch his name, but he did welcome us, leaving and returning to the condo on the one day I didn’t see Sarah or Julie. Overall, we were very pleased with the two wonderful ladies we dealt with all week. You definitely got the sense that they enjoyed their job, and the guests were a priority!!
